Projekt „Datenkompetenz in NFDI“ ist gestartet

Ein Ziel von NFDI ist, die Datenkompetenz von Wissenschaftler:innen zu erhöhen. Dazu ist Mitte Juli das Projekt „Datenkompetenz in NFDI“ angelaufen. Es wird für zwei Jahre vom Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) finanziert. Ziel des Projekts ist es, das Thema Datenkompetenz im Kontext von NFDI zu untersuchen, Ausbau- und Unterstützungsmöglichkeiten zu identifizieren sowie strategische Ideen zur Nutzung des NFDI-Netzwerkes für den fächerübergreifenden Ausbau von Datenkompetenz zu entwickeln. Project „Data Literacy in NFDI“ has started

One goal of NFDI is to increase the data literacy of scientists. To this end, the project “Data Literacy in NFDI” was launched in mid-July. It is funded for two years by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The aim of the project is to examine the topic of data literacy in the context of NFDI, to identify opportunities for expansion and support, and to develop strategic ideas for using the NFDI network for the interdisciplinary expansion of data literacy. KonsortSWD Ausschreibung: Network Development Grants

Mit den Network Development Grants will KonsortSWD sein Dienste-Portfolio weiter ergänzen. KonsortSWD ist interessiert an Ideen aus allen Teilen der NFDI-Communities. Alle Interessent:innen sind eingeladen, sich auf diesen offenen Call for Proposals zu bewerben. KonsortSWD fördert damit Vorhaben, die die FAIRness von Daten verbessern, neue Methoden der Datenerhebung bzw. -extraktion oder -analyse erschließen oder die Nutzung der bestehenden Infrastruktur in den KonsortSWD Disziplinen erleichtern. KonsortSWD calls for Proposals: Network Development Grants

KonsortSWD has released the Call for Proposals for its Network Development Grants. KonsortSWD’s Network Development Grants provide flexible funding to expand the research data infrastructure in the social, behavioral, educational, and economic sciences, to improve the FAIRness of data, and to advance new methods of data collection or extraction. This call is open to researchers and their institutions from KonsortSWD’s sub-communities, as well as to infrastructure providers with relevant expertise. The Network Development Grants will serve as a flexible means to expand KonsortSWD’s network in addition to its services and lay a strong foundation for KonsortSWD’s innovative way forward. Noch bis 30. September: NFDI4Ing Seed Funds 2023

Noch bis zum 30. September sind Anträge für das NFDI4Ing Seed Fund Programm möglich. Die NFDI4Ing Seed Funds fördern Wissenschaftler:innen aller ingenieurwissenschaftlicher Forschungsbereiche bei der Umsetzung innovativer Ideen im Forschungsdatenmanagement. Applications for the NFDI4Ing Seed Fund programme are still open until 30 September. The NFDI4Ing Seed Funds support scientists from all engineering research fields in the implementation of innovative ideas in research data management. Applications for funding of up to 66,300 Euro can be submitted, with a project start date of 1 January 2023 at the earliest. More information on the call for applications can be found here.

Hilfe für die Ukraine

NFDI4Culture und die SUCHO-Initiative arbeiten zusammen, um ukrainische Kulturerbe-Institutionen bei der digitalen Bewahrung des materiellen Kulturerbes vor Ort zu unterstützen. Der dafür eingerichtete Helpdesk richtet sich an deutsche, europäische und ukrainische Einrichtungen des kulturellen Erbes. Europäische Institutionen können technische Hardware, Wissen oder andere Ressourcen anbieten, die für die Digitalisierungsbemühungen in der Ukraine verwendet werden können. Ukrainische Institutionen können sich mit spezifischen Anfragen zu Digitalisierungsgeräten oder anderen benötigten Ressourcen an SUCHO wenden, Anfragen zur Identifizierung der notwendigen Technologie stellen und nicht zuletzt Unterstützung bei der Schulung und Durchführung von Digitalisierungsaktivitäten erhalten. Help for Ukraine

NFDI4Culture are partnering with the SUCHO initiative to offer support to Ukrainian cultural heritage institutions in digitally preserving material heritage on the ground. The helpdesk set up for this purpose is aimed at European and Ukrainian Cultural Heritage institutions. European institutions may offer equipment, knowledge or funds that can be used towards digitization efforts in Ukraine. Ukrainian institutions can reach out with specific requests regarding digitization equipment, help in identifying the necessary technology, and help with training and carrying out digitization activities. Veröffentlichung der Rückmeldung von NFDI4Health, GHGA und NFDI4Microbiota zu den Positionen und Empfehlungen des Wissenschaftsrats

NFDI4Health, GHGA und NFDI4Microbiota begrüßen ausdrücklich die Positionen und Empfehlungen des Wissenschaftsrats zur Digitalisierung und Datennutzung für Gesundheitsforschung und Versorgung und haben dazu eine gemeinsame Antwort erarbeitet. Die Konsortien befürworten insbesondere das strategische Ziel, eine dezentrale, mit Forschung kompatible, vernetzte und interoperable Gesundheitsdateninfrastruktur mit einem zentralen Gesundheitsforschungsdatenportal aufzubauen. Das Plädoyer des Wissenschaftsrats für eine datenschutzrechtskonforme Erleichterung des Datenzugangs mit den Möglichkeiten des Opt-Out-Verfahrens wird durch die beteiligten NFDI-Konsortien ausdrücklich unterstützt. Ergänzend wird für verbesserte Möglichkeiten für die Verknüpfung von verschiedenen Datenquellen (Record Linkage) auf nationaler Ebene plädiert. Publication of the feedback from NFDI4Health, GHGA and NFDI4Microbiota on the positions and recommendations of the German Council of Science and Humanities

NFDI4Health, GHGA and NFDI4Microbiota particularly welcome the positions and recommendations of the German Council of Science and Humanities on digitization and data use for health research and care and have formulated a joint response to this. Here, the consortia appreciate the strategic goal of establishing a decentralized, research-compatible, networked and interoperable health data infrastructure with a central health research data portal. The plea of the German Council of Science and Humanities for a data protection compliant facilitation of data access with the possibilities of the opt-out procedure is explicitly supported by the participating NFDI consortia. Additionally, improved possibilities for the linkage of different data sources (record linkage) on a national level are pleaded for. NFDI4Ing OntoHuman veröffentlicht: Bearbeitung von Ontologien mit Dokumentenannotation

Die Ergebnisse des NFDI4Ing Seed Fund Projekts OntoHuman sind nun verfügbar. OntoHuman ermöglicht die (halb-)automatische Erweiterung von Ontologien durch Informationen, die aus Dokumenten extrahiert wurden, mit einer Human-in-the-Loop-Komponente. NFDI4Ing OntoHuman released – editing ontologies with document annotation

The results of the NFDI4Ing Seed Fund project OntoHuman are now available. OntoHuman allows (semi-)automatically extending ontologies through information extracted from documents with a human-in-the-loop component. Bedeutende Veröffentlichungen von bioinformatischen Workflows mit GHGA-Beteiligung

Das Bioinformatik-Team von GHGA macht stetig Fortschritte in seinen Bemühungen, standardisierte, vergleichbare und reproduzierbare bioinformatische Workflows für die Forschungsgemeinschaft bereitzustellen. Zuletzt war GHGA an der Veröffentlichung von drei bioinformatischen Workflows (sarek 3.0, nanoseq 3.0 und DROP 1.2) beteiligt, die GHGA – neben den laufenden Bemühungen – hier vorstellt.

Within the GHGA workflow workstream, the bioinformatics team has been making steady progress in the effort to provide standardized, comparable, and reproducible omics workflows for the research community. Recently, GHGA was involved in the releases of three workflows (sarek 3.0, nanoseq 3.0 und DROP 1.2) which – alongside ongoing efforts, GHGA highlights here.

Start des NFDI4Microbiota Ambassador Programms

Die Aufgabe des NFDI4Microbiota Konsortiums ist es, den Wissenschaftler:innen der mikrobiologischen Forschung den Zugang zu Daten zu erleichtern und sie mittels Schulungen und Analysediensten zu unterstützen. Daher ist die Verbindung und Interaktion von NFDI4Microbiota mit den Forschenden der Schlüssel zum Erfolg des Konsortiums und gleichzeitig das Ziel des NFDI4Microbiota Ambassador Programms. Die Botschafter:innen werden dabei helfen, die Bedürfnisse ihrer Community effizient zu erfassen, zu kommunizieren und ihnen geeignete Lösungen aus dem Konsortium anzubieten. Ein bilateraler Austausch mit den Botschafter:innen sowie Präsentationen zu unterschiedlichen Themen finden während der monatlichen Coffee Talk Serie statt. Launch of the NFDI4Microbiota Ambassador Program

The mission of the NFDI4Microbiota consortium is to be the central hub in Germany for supporting the microbiology community with access to data, analysis services, data/meta data standards and training. Therefore, the connection and interaction of NFDI4Microbiota with the German microbiology community is key for the success of the consortium and the goal of the NFDI4Microbiota ambassador program. The ambassadors will help to efficiently assess and communicate the needs of their community and provide them with suitable solutions generated by the consortium. KonsortSWD fördert Workshops zur Übertragbarkeit des Standardisierten Datenmanagementplans (Stamp)

Mitarbeitende des Leibniz-Institut für Bildungsforschung und Bildungsinformation (DIPF), des Instituts zur Qualitätsentwicklung im Bildungswesen (IQB) und des Leibniz-Instituts für Sozialwissenschaften (GESIS) veranstalteten im August zwei von KonsortSWD geförderte Workshops zur Übertragbarkeit des Standardisierten Datenmanagementplans für die empirische Bildungsforschung (Stamp). Im ersten Workshop am 16. August 2022 wurde die Übertragbarkeit des Stamp auf andere sozialwissenschaftliche Disziplinen behandelt. Am 23. August 2022 befasste sich der zweite Workshop mit der Anwendbarkeit des Stamps in Disziplinen, die außerhalb der Sozialwissenschaften angesiedelt sind. Rund 50 Teilnehmende identifizierten im Rahmen der Workshops die Methodik, den genutzten Datentypus und die verwendete Fachsprache als zentrale Eckpunkte. Um die fach- und disziplinübergreifende Übertragbarkeit des Stamps zu ermöglichen, wurden diese Eckpunkte von den anwesenden Forschenden erörtert und eine standardisierte Vorlage für die Planung des Forschungsdatenmanagements vorgestellt. KonsortSWD supports workshops on the transferability of the Standardised Data Management Plan (Stamp)

Staff from the Leibniz Institute for Human Development and Educational Information (DIPF), the Institute for Quality Development in Education (IQB) and the Leibniz Institute for Social Sciences (GESIS) organised two KonsortSWD-funded workshops on the transferability of the Standardised Data Management Plan for Empirical Educational Research (Stamp) in August. The first workshop on the 16th of August dealt with the transferability of the Stamp to other social science disciplines. On 23 August, the second workshop dealt with the applicability of the Stamp in disciplines outside the social sciences. Around 50 participants identified the methodology, the type of data used and the technical language used as key points in the workshops. In order to enable the transferability of the stamp across disciplines, these cornerstones were discussed by the researchers present and a standardised template for planning research data management was presented.
