Published on 19.12.2023) We are stepping away from Twitter/X in favour of platforms that are currently more aligned with our values. Find us on Mastodon, LinkedIn or BlueSky!
The NFDI association and all NFDI consortia are dedicated to the core values of Open Science. We value diversity – not only in the data we care about, but also in the conversations we engage in. We are committed to nurturing an environment that is welcoming, supportive, respectful and free of harassment, intimidation, bullying and discrimination. The decisions of Twitter/X to substantially reduce their content moderation teams and to invite previously banned perpetrators of hate speech back onto their platform, run contrary to this commitment. We’ve therefore decided to move our social media engagement away from Twitter/X. Henceforth, we’re focusing our efforts on our accounts on platforms that currently better resonate with our values, such as our own welcoming NFDI Mastodon instance, LinkedIn or BlueSky.
We will stop using Twitter/X from December 31th 2023. Our account will remain inactive, serving as an archive rather than a conduit for communication. We encourage you to join us in other spaces that support constructive and respectful dialogue.

Impulse papers on NFDI service portfolio and financial flows published
On July 14, 2025, the German Council of Science and Humanities (WR) presented the results of its structural evaluation of the German National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI). In its report, the WR makes recommendations for the further development of NFDI. The NFDI Task Force Governance and Sustainability (TFGS) is also addressing this issue. In its work plan “Steps for the Further Development of our NFDI,” the TFGS has defined clear framework conditions for the further development of the structure and financing of NFDI.
What’s next for NFDI after 2028? German Science and Humanities Council presents evaluation report.
At its meeting on 11 July 2025, the German Council of Science and Humanities (Wissenschaftsrat, WR) adopted a report on the structural evaluation of the German National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI). This is highly relevant for the future design of NFDI.
NFDI would like to thank the Council for the numerous valuable impulses that emerged from the report and very much welcomes the recommendation for the further funding and organisation of the network.
