NFDI4Chem is committed to embedding FAIR research data management within the chemistry community – and thereby driving a sustainable cultural shift. Many researchers are still at the start of their journey and need guidance, inspiration and role models.
To this end, NFDI4Chem launched the FAIR4Chem Award in 2021 – a prize that recognises outstanding published datasets in which the FAIR principles are particularly well implemented. The award is financially supported by the “Fonds der Chemischen Industrie”.
In March 2026, the award was presented for the fifth time – once again as part of the JungeChemieForum’s spring symposium. Over the past five years, we have met individuals from a wide variety of chemical disciplines. All were characterised by a determination to establish FAIR data as the foundation of good science – and to pass on this enthusiasm to the next generation.
With every FAIR4Chem Award, we gain new ambassadors for FAIR data – researchers who not only share their own data but also actively encourage others to get involved. They are the backbone of our community work and play a key role in ensuring that FAIR is not just a goal, but a living practice.

QualidataNet – Making Qualitative Research Data Visible and Reusable
QualidataNet is the central access point for the reuse, archiving, and research data management of qualitative research data. Its search portal improves the visibility and discoverability of qualitative datasets from different providers. Through practical guidance, tools such as the open-source anonymization tool QualiAnon, and contributions to international metadata standards, QualidataNet supports researchers, educators, and institutions working with qualitative data. At the same time, the network fosters collaboration, exchange, and a stronger culture of qualitative data reuse across the community.

Forum4MICA – Making Research Data Knowledge Accessible Together
Forum4MICA connects researchers and research data centers on one central platform. It provides a space to ask questions, exchange expertise, and discuss complex datasets from the social, behavioral, educational, and economic sciences. Through direct interaction with experts and the research community, the platform is building a sustainable knowledge archive for research data management and scientific collaboration.
