QualidataNet is the central access point for the secondary use, research data management (RDM), and archiving of qualitative research data – for researchers, educators, and institutions. It serves qualitative researchers from all disciplines, as well as institutions that hold qualitative data.

The impact of QualidataNet:

  • Enhanced visibility and discoverability of qualitative data from diverse providers via the search portal.
  • International networking: QualidataNet coordinates the Qualitative Working Group of the Data Domain Initiative (DDI) and contributes actively to the development of international metadata standards.
  • Practical support: The RDM portfolio includes guidelines (e.g., on RDM and data sharing for qualitative data) and tools such as QualiAnon – a semi-automated anonymization tool available as open source on GitHub.
  • Researcher support: QualidataNet helps researchers identify the most suitable archiving partner for their data.
  • Cross-disciplinary and cross-data-type collaboration: Network partners work together, integrate their specialized expertise, and avoid duplication of efforts.
  • Community building: A new Forum for Secondary Research is being established, where researchers can exchange experiences, access best practice examples, and co-develop a culture of secondary use of qualitative data.

QualidataNet is open to all research data centers, archives, and repositories that archive qualitative social science data and make it available for secondary use.
