NFDI Sections Roadshow: Info & Registration
Getting to know more about the current work and planned activities of the sections and their various working groups
We invite all interested employees of our NFDI association members and all RDM enthusiasts to our virtual two-hour NFDI Sections Roadshow on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 3 to 5 p.m.
The aim of the NFDI Sections Roadshow is to provide firsthand information about the current and future planned activities of the NFDI sections and their working groups. The five sections work on cross-cutting topics that are central to the various scientific disciplines. These cross-cutting issues range from metadata, terminology to a common infrastructure and tasks such as training the users and clarifying ethical and legal aspects. Researchs and stakeholders such as industry, international actors and public authorities will be addressed. This is reflected in our five existing sections and the newly established Section International Engagement.
In the NFDI Sections Roadshow Event, representatives of the sections will explain how they contribute to research data management challenges and the NFDI aim of making research data more accessible in accordance with the FAIR principles. These principles ensure that research data are findable, accessible, interoperable, and resusable in order to improve research and contribute to social knowledge gain, which among others leads to innovation and data sovereignty for Gemany and the European Union.
The aim of the NFDI Sections Roadshow is to answer the following questions:
- What are the key cross-cutting topics for a research data information infrastructure?
- What challenges do these cross-cutting topics face when setting up a national research data infrastructure?
- On what solutions are the sections working in order to address these challenges?
To answer these questions, our NFDI Director York Sure-Vetter will open the event with a welcome speech and and outlines the role of cross-cutting topics towards NFDI. During the event, various sections representatives and their working groups will then present their contributions and activities toward the overall goal of NFDI. We look forward to seeing you at the NFDI Sections Roadshow!
