Die NFDI4Microbiota Flex Funds Ausschreibung 2024 ist jetzt geöffnet

Das NFDI4Microbiota Konsortium ist bestrebt, seine Dienste dynamisch anzupassen, um zusätzliche Datentypen zu unterstützen, neue Schulungsprogramme zu entwickeln und seine Fähigkeit zu verbessern, auf unvorhergesehene technische Herausforderungen zu reagieren. Daher stehen im Rahmen der NFDI4Microbiota-Projektarbeit flexible Finanzmittel (so genannte ‚Flex Funds‘) für kleine Projekte innerhalb der Forschungsgemeinschaft zur Verfügung. Um ein dynamisches System zu implementieren, das mit neuen Trends auf dem Gebiet Schritt hält, unterstützen die Flex Funds kleine Projekte und aktive Anwendungsfälle aus der Gemeinschaft. Anträge auf eine Förderung von bis zu 100.000 € können bis zum 20. August 2023 eingereicht werden, wobei das Projekt frühestens am 1. Januar 2024 beginnen kann. The NFDI4Microbiota Flex Funds Call 2024 is now open

The NFDI4Microbiota consortium aims to dynamically adapt its services to support additional data types, develop new training programs and improve its ability to respond to unforeseen technical challenges. Therefore, as part of the NFDI4Microbiota project work, flexible funding (so called ‚flex funds‘) is available for small projects within the research community. In order to implement a dynamic system that keeps pace with new trends in the field, flex funds will support small projects and active Use Cases from the community. Applications for funding of up to 100,000 € can be submitted until 20 August 2023, with a project start date of 1 January 2024 at the earliest. Neuer FAIRmat Podcast gestartet

Die erste Folge des FAIRmat-Podcasts „Pioniere der elektronischen Strukturtheorie“ ist jetzt auf YouTube und Spotify verfügbar. In dieser Interviewreihe spricht das FAIRmat-Team mit Persönlichkeiten, die maßgeblich an der Entwicklung von Methoden und Codes beteiligt waren, die als Elektronenstrukturtheorie bekannt geworden sind. Mit einer Mischung aus Physik und Geschichte wird die Serie nicht nur für Expert:innen der Dichtefunktionaltheorie interessant sein, sondern auch für alle, die sich für das akademische und wissenschaftliche Leben der letzten Jahrzehnte interessieren.

FAIRmat launches podcast

The debut episode of the FAIRmat podcast “Pioneers in electronic-structure theory” is now available on YouTube and Spotify. In this series of interviews, the FAIRmat team talks with personalities who were instrumental in the development of methods and codes which have come to be known as electronic-structure theory. With a mix of physics and history, the series will be interesting not only for experts in density functional theory but also for those interested in academic and scientific life over the last decades.

RatSWD-Positionspapier zur Nutzung von Registerdaten

Melderegister, Ausländerzentralregister oder Fahrzeugzulassungsregister – diese Datensätze haben ein großes Forschungspotenzial für die Sozial- und Wirtschaftswissenschaften. Trotzdem bleibt Forschenden der Zugang oft erschwert. In einem neuen Positionspapier betont der Rat für Sozial- und Wirtschaftsdaten (RatSWD), wie wichtig der Zugang zu Registerdaten sowie deren Verknüpfung für die Forschung sind. Als Teil von KonsortSWD, dem Konsortium für die Sozial-, Verhaltens-, Bildungs- und Wirtschaftswissenschaften, setzt sich der RatSWD für eine bessere Forschungsdateninfrastruktur in Deutschland ein. German Data Forum’s statement on use of register data

Population registers, central registers of foreigners or vehicle registration registers – these data sets have great research potential for the social and economic sciences. Nevertheless, researchers often find it difficult to access them. In a new position paper, the German Data Forum (RatSWD) emphasizes the importance of access to register data as well as their linkage for research. As part of KonsortSWD, the Consortium for the Social, Behavioral, Educational, and Economic sciences, the RatSWD advocates for a better research data infrastructure in Germany. Das GDI Starter Kit legt den ersten Grundstein für eine 1+MG-Infrastruktur

Die GHGA begrüßt die Veröffentlichung des GDI Starter Kits, einer Reihe von Software-Tools, die den teilnehmenden Ländern die technischen Möglichkeiten für den grenzüberschreitenden Zugang zu synthetischen genetischen und phänotypischen Daten bieten. Die enthaltenen Technologien basieren auf Standards, die im Rahmen großer internationaler Aktivitäten wie der Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH) entwickelt wurden. Die GHGA nutzt bereits mehrere der vorgesehenen Technologien und ist daher bestens darauf vorbereitet, Datensätze in das GDI-Netzwerk einzubringen. Mehr Informationen hier.

The GDI Starter Kit lays the foundation for 1+MG infrastructure

GHGA welcomes the recent release of the GDI Starter Kit, a set of software tools to give participating countries the technical capability to access synthetic genomic and phenotypic data across borders. The technologies included are based on standards developed within large international activities such as the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH). GHGA is already using several of the supported technologies and is therefore well prepared to contribute its datasets to the GDI network. More info here.

GHGA Positionspapier über Betroffenenbeteiligung

In einem kürzlich veröffentlichten Positionspapier fasst GHGA die Ergebnisse der partizipativen Studie zur Umsetzung einer wirkungsvollen Betroffenenbeteiligung an der Verwaltung und Aufsicht von GHGA zusammen. Dieses flexible Konzept kann für andere Dateninfrastrukturen übernommen werden. Mehr Informationen hier.

GHGA White Paper on patient involvement

In a recently published white paper, GHGA summarises the results of the PaGODA-Study and presents a concept with concrete steps for the implementation of meaningful patient involvement in the governance of GHGA. This flexible concept can be adopted for other data infrastructures. More information here.

Kick-off Meeting der in Berlin und Brandenburg vertretenen NFDI-Konsortien

Am Donnerstag, dem 12. Oktober 2023, findet ein Kickoff-Meeting statt, um ein Netzwerk aller in Berlin und Brandenburg vertretenen NFDI-Konsortien aufzubauen. Das Treffen findet im Weierstraß-Institut (WIAS) in Berlin Mitte von 10:00-16:00 Uhr statt. Das Hauptziel dieses ersten Treffens ist es, sich gegenseitig kennenzulernen und Kontakte knüpfen zu können. Außerdem, möchten wir Gespräche und mögliche Kooperationen zu Themen und Fragestellungen beginnen, die für die NFDI konsortienübergreifend von zentraler Bedeutung sind. Bitte merken Sie sich den Termin vor und registrieren Sie sich hier bis zum 14. September 2023.

Kick-off meeting of the NFDI consortia represented in Berlin and Brandenburg

A kickoff meeting is taking place on Thursday, October 12, 2023 to establish a network of all NFDI consortia represented in Berlin and Brandenburg. The meeting will be held at the Weierstrass Institute (WIAS) in the center of Berlin from 10:00-16:00. In addition to getting to know each other and establishing contacts, we would like to start conversations, and potential collaborations, on topics and themes that are central to the NFDI and across consortia. Please save the date and register here by September 14, 2023.
